Light of other days Flickered faintly on the walls So dimly lit the weary ways Down dark and dusty halls Now modern lights can shine Through clouds beyond the night And far beyond our time Lasered beams radiate so bright We can finally see Remote stars and a wayward galaxy But these future lights of a universe hewn Won't keep us from combining With darkness once again Though all the lights keep shining Except the one within How glad they must have been To open up their eyes Upon the dawn awaken And see what light still lies
